President Muhammadu Buhari was given a six-week deadline by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) MPs in the House of Representatives on Thursday to address the nation’s security issues or risk being impeached.

The legislators’ action came only 24 hours after the president was given a similar deadline by their Senate equivalent over the nation’s escalating insecurity.
On Wednesday, the senators left the Senate chamber after Ahmed Lawan, the Senate President, rejected a resolution to initiate an impeachment process against President Buhari.

The lawmakers chanted “Buhari must go” as they walked out of the chamber.

The Minority leader of the House of Representatives, Ndudi Elumelu, who revealed the position at the end of a closed door meeting of the joint minority caucus of the National Assembly in Abuja, they signatures would be gathered to impeach the president if the Boko Haram insurgents and other criminals continued to wreak havoc in the country.
