Three days after a magnitude 5.6 earthquake that struck Cianjur on the main Indonesian island of Java and left 268 people dead, a six-year-old kid was found alive on Wednesday among the wreckage of a building.
The youngster was found alive after being buried under the earthquake debris in Kampung Rawacina, Nagrak Village, by a joint search and rescue team.
Hendi Saeful Maladi, the village chief of Nagrak, told journalists that the residents were grateful for the boy’s survival.
He said: “Thank God, even though the child has been buried for three days, he is still alive and well.”
Maladi added that the boy was to be in school when the incideny occurred.
“Then since yesterday (Tuesday), the team launched evacuation in his house, and turns out the boy is there and safe.”
