The Nigerian Defence Headquarters reported on Thursday that troops eliminated over 715 terrorists in April, alongside rescuing 465 kidnapped hostages during the same period.Maj-Gen Edward Buba, the Director of Defence Media Operation, disclosed these figures during a bi-weekly media briefing in Abuja, emphasizing the crucial defeat of terrorist groups to safeguard citizens.The military achieved these results through coordinated ground and air operations, including ambushes, raids, and fighting patrols. Aerial assets were instrumental in identifying and targeting terrorist leaders and their bases.During April, troops neutralized over 715 terrorists, arrested 146 individuals, and rescued 465 kidnapped hostages. Additionally, they recovered 937 assorted weapons and 23,034 assorted ammunition, preventing oil theft amounting to an estimated sum exceeding N2 billion.Key engagements included the neutralization of senior terrorist commanders such as Ali Dawud, Bakura Fallujah, and Mallam Ari in Kolleram Village along Lake Chad, among others. In the North-East, Operation Hadin Kai troops conducted successful missions resulting in the elimination of 248 terrorists, the arrest of 422, and the rescue of 163 kidnapped hostages.Operation Safe Haven, Operation Whirl Stroke, Operation Hadarin Daji, and Operation Delta Safe also recorded significant successes in neutralizing terrorists, arresting suspects, rescuing hostages, and seizing weapons and ammunition.Overall, the report highlights the continued efforts of the Nigerian military in combating terrorism and ensuring the safety and security of citizens across various regions
