Premier League fixtures on TV this weekend: Full list of live games, channel guide and kick-off times
The new Premier League season kicks off this weekend, with five of the 10 opening round fixtures set to be broadcast live on television in the UK.
Across the course of the campaign 2022-23 – which takes a month-long pause from mid-November onwards in order to accommodate the 2022 World Cup in Qatar – defending champions, Manchester City are once again expected to battle against Liverpool for the title, though Antonio Conte’s Tottenham may be able to stake a claim.
Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester United seem set to compete for a spot in the top four, while sides including West Ham United, Newcastle United and Brighton will have ambitions of qualifying for Europe.
Promoted sides Fulham, Bournemouth and Nottingham Forest will all be aiming to stay in the Premier League come to the end of May, while the likes of Southampton, Leeds United and Everton will also aim to avoid relegation.

Crystal Palace vs Arsenal
Selhurst Park is where the new Premier League season will begin, as Patrick Vieira’s Crystal Palace take on his old club Arsenal in Croydon.
Mikel Arteta’s men have a new captain in Martin Odegaard, promoted after the departure of Alexandre Lacazette, while Gabriel Jesus is likely to lead the attack with Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka on either wing.
For Palace, Chiekhou Doucoure is set to anchor the midfield after arriving from RC Lens, but fellow new signings Sam Johnstone and Chris Richards could miss out having not seen too much action in pre-season.
The Gunners have contested the first fixture of the season five times before, winning three but losing last season away at Brentford, while four of the last six matches between these two sides have ended in a draw.
Fulham vs Liverpool
Liverpool travel to Craven Cottage for Saturday’s lunchtime kick-off in order to face a Fulham side who scored a whopping 106 goals to win the Championship last season.
Jurgen Klopp will have new striker Darwin Nunez at his disposal for the match in the capital, but could well start Roberto Firmino in his stead as was the case in the Community Shield win over Manchester City.
Fulham have been relegated at the first attempt in both of their two most recent spells in the top flight, and will hope that Aleksandar Mitrovic can provide the goals after scoring a stunning 43 in 2021-22.
Last time the Cottagers were in the top flight, the Reds failed to beat them on both occasions, but did secure six consecutive victories over the same opposition between 2012 and 2019.
Bournemouth vs Aston Villa
Scott Parker has brought Bournemouth back to the top flight after just a single season in the Championship, but the Cherries have struggled to reinforce their squad over the summer and are among the favourites to be relegated as things stand.
Aston Villa’s form tailed off towards the end of last season after an initial upturn following Steven Gerrard’s arrival as manager, and the likes of Boubacar Kamara and Diego Carlos have been brought in to make the Villains more difficult to score against.
These two sides have played four league fixtures against one another, with Bournemouth winning three, all by a 2-1 scoreline.
Leeds vs Wolves
Jesse Marsch’s Leeds United host Wolves on Saturday afternoon, having been among the most active teams in Europe in the transfer market so far this summer.
Having sold Raphinha to Barcelona and Kalvin Phillips to Manchester City, Leeds have invested around £100m in players including Brenden Aaronsen, Tyler Adams, Luis Sinisterra and Marc Roca.
For Bruno Lage’s Wolves, goals look difficult to come by with no new forwards being added to a squad which managed to finish 10th last season despite scoring only 38 goals.
The away side have won three of their last four matches at Elland Road.
Newcastle vs Nottingham Forest
Nottingham Forest travel will play their first Premier League match in the 21st century at St James’ Park on Saturday afternoon, as they travel north to face Newcastle United.
Steve Cooper has been the most active manager in this summer’s transfer window in terms of number of arrivals, with Forest bringing in no fewer than 12 players so far this summer for an outlay of around £85m.
Newcastle, meanwhile, have been quieter than expected, but will harbour serious ambitions of qualifying for Europe this year.
In eight previous Premier League meetings, Forest have never managed to beat Newcastle.

Tottenham vs Southampton
Conte’s Tottenham host Southampton in the last of the Saturday 3pm fixtures, as they begin their first full season under the man who won the title with Chelsea in 2016-17.
Spurs have re-crafted their squad with a plethora of incomings over the summer, with the likes of Ivan Perisic, Yves Bissouma and Richarlison all moving to north London as their new club looks to challenge Liverpool and Manchester City at the top of the table.
Southampton have added youth to their squad over the course of the summer, signing a new starting goalkeeper and center-back both aged 20, as well as teenagers to play central midfield and upfront.
Saints won this fixture 3-2 last season, thanks to late goals from Mohamed Elyounoussi and Che Adams.
Everton vs Chelsea
Everton play host to Chelsea in Saturday evening’s match, as they try to harness the power of the Goodison Park crowd to get their season off to a strong start.
Lampard said the Toffees are likely to face “another relegation battle” after they were beaten by MLS side Minnesota United in pre-season, and the loss of Richarlison and subsequent injury to Dominic Calvert-Lewin mean goals could be hard to come by at the beginning of the campaign.
Chelsea’s summer has been complicated by Todd Boehly’s takeover over of the club, and the subsequent struggle to convince some transfer targets to join the club.
Everton have won four out of their last five home league matches against Chelsea.
Leicester City vs Brentford
Leicester City will begin their campaign under something of a cloud when they welcome Brentford to the King Power Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
The Foxes have not signed a single player so far this summer, and have lost stalwart goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel to Nice this week. With Wesley Fofana also heavily linked with a move to Chelsea, Brendan Rodgers’ team seems to be looking over its shoulder after an already iffy 2021-22 season.
Brentford on the other hand have added some Serie A youth to their squad, with Scottish full-back Aaron Hickey arriving from Bologna and Danish midfielder Mikkel Damsgaard joining from Sampdoria.
Brentford have not beaten Leicester in their last 10 attempts, dating back to 1953.
Manchester United vs Brighton
Erik ten Hag will take charge of his first competitive fixture as Manchester United manager when Brighton travels north on Sunday.
The Dutchman had United playing some impressive football in pre-season, but with Cristiano Ronaldo’s future dominating the headlines, it remains to be seen if he can turn around the club’s fortunes after a dreadful campaign last time out.
For Brighton, Graham Potter has impressed significantly since taking charge on the south coast, and will be hoping to take the club further up the table towards the European qualification places this season.
United have won all five of their previous Premier League fixtures against Brighton.
West Ham vs Manchester City
Defending champions Manchester City begin their quest for a fifth title in the sixth seasons with a trip to the London Stadium to face West Ham United in the opening weekend’s final fixture on Sunday afternoon.
Pep Guardiola’s men have some adjusting to do early on in the campaign, with Erling Haaland and Julian Alvarez’s respective arrivals meaning that his side will be playing with at least one traditional striker for the majority of the season.
West Ham will be competing in Europe once again under David Moyes, having qualified for the Europa Conference League, and will be hoping new singings including Gianluca Scammaca and Nayef Aguerd can help them to replicate the impressive form which took them to seventh in the league and the semi-finals of the Europa League last year.
The last two editions of this fixture have ended in a draw.
