Republicans narrowly win back House in US midterm elections

After securing the 218 seats required for a majority in the House, the Republicans narrowly prevailed in the battle for control of the Lower Chamber of Congress in the recent midterm elections in the United States.

The party’s advantage in the House of Representatives, which was announced on Wednesday night, is relatively thin, but it is still sufficient to prevent President Joe Biden’s plan from moving forward for the next two years.
However, when the new Congress meets in January, Democrats will continue to hold sway over the Senate, which is the upper chamber.

The incumbent Senator Mike Garcia was elected in California’s 27th district on Wednesday, giving the Republicans the seat they needed to take control of the House. The Republicans had hoped to take control of both chambers but had performed poorly in last week’s midterm elections.

According to the CBS, the Republican party is now projected to win between 218-223 seats in the 435-seat House, making it take control of the Lower Chamber.
