The government of Kano State has shut down 26 private health training facilities there.

In a statement released on Friday in Kano, the state’s Ministry of Health spokesperson, Mrs. Hadiza Namadi, stated the institutes were shut down for breaking rules governing their activities.
She said that the ministry had taken note of the state’s growing number of illicit health facilities with alarm.
Aminu Ado Bayero College of Health Sciences and Technology, Unity and Utopia College of Health Sciences and Technology, and other institutions were among those Namadi identified as being impacted.

She said: “This unwanted trend is at the detriment of the people, educational development and efficiency of the entire health system in the state and the country at large.

“The ministry will cooperate with all stakeholders to ensure regular monitoring and inspection of the Health Training Institutions (HTIs) across the state for sanity and safety.”
