Adeyeri Stephen Kunle, a House of Representatives aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC, for Akoko South West/South East federal constituency, Ondo State, on Tuesday announced his resignation from the ruling party.

Kunle made the announcement in a letter of resignation, insisting his decision was carefully considered.

At the time of this report, he was yet to announce his new party.

President Muhammadu Buhari’s regime has vowed that there will “never” be a jailbreak again. Under Mr Buhari’s watch, Africa’s most populous nation has witnessed a series of daring prison breaks resulting in the fleeing of hundreds of inmates, including hardened criminals like Boko Haram terrorists.

Specifically, the Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola, assured that “never again would jailbreak be repeated” in Nigeria and warned criminal elements to keep off the prisons across the country or they would not live to tell the story of any dastard acts.

President Vladimir Putin attended large-scale military exercises on Tuesday involving China and several other Russia-friendly countries, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told local news agencies.

Putin was meeting with Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu and military chief of staff Valery Gerasimov at the Sergeevski military range and could observe the final phase of the military exercises later, Peskov was quoted as saying.

Nigeria, Poland sign MOU on agriculture

The President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), and his Polish counterpart, Andrzej Duda, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding on Agriculture to strengthen collaboration between both countries in the sector.

Duda disclosed this while briefing journalists at the front porch of the Presidential Villa, Abuja, shortly after a closed door session with Buhari.

According to him, the MoU becomes necessary in the light of Russia’s aggression in Ukraine and the consequent food crisis.

The Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu has said that the Federal Government has done all it can to end the ongoing strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).
