2023: You Say You Are For The Youths But Your Campaign DG Is 70 Years Old – Dino Melaye Tackles Obi

With less than 23 days to the commencement of political campaigns across the federation, the Spokesman for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Dino Melaye has come out to take a jab at the Presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Mr. Peter Obi.

In a video posted on his verified Facebook page, the former Lawmaker is heard addressing a crowd of PDP supporters at an event. In his speech, Senator Melaye tackled Peter Obi by saying that despite his claims of being a youth-friendly presidential candidate, he (Obi) went on to appoint a 70-year-old man, Doyin Okupe, as the Director-General of his presidential campaign organization. Going further, Senator Melaye insisted that the huge following and popularity that Peter Obi has enjoyed so far was strictly based on social media, alleging that the youths are being deceived by the former Anambra governor.

“This is going to be an election like no other. Forget those obediently disobedient people. They are being deceived but we are coming to address them. You say you are youth-based and youth-friendly, yet the Director-General of your campaign is 70 years old. Yes, Doyin Okupe is 70. I sent him a congratulatory message when he turned seventy.

So I want to appeal to us that all of it (obidient movement) is just euphoria. You say you are popular among the youth, all of the social media is your own, yet the total number of your followers on social media is just a quarter of mine. People are calling Obi’s name but they are not following him on social media,” Melaye said.
