Liz Truss has been appointed as the new prime minister of the United Kingdom by Queen Elizabeth.

Predecessor Boris Johnson tendered his resignation at Balmoral Castle earlier on Tuesday morning before Truss, the former foreign secretary, was invited to form a government by the 96-year-old monarch.

The audience, known as “kissing hands” although hands are no longer kissed – was held at Queen Elizabeth’s Aberdeenshire estate rather than at her London residence, Buckingham Palace, because of concerns about her mobility.

Nigerians Will Have No Choice Than To Support Tinubu When Campaign Starts – SWAGA.

The South-West Agenda for Asiwaju (SWAGA23), has said many Nigerians will join the train of the presidential candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu when the campaign for the 2023 general elections kick off on September 28.

Speaking in an interview with Daily Independent, Otunba Bosun Oladele, SWAGA National Secretary said Tinubu’s track records, academic and professional qualifications, as well as his achievements during his tenure as Lagos state governor, have already marketed him to Nigerians even before the campaign starts.

APC Warns PDP Chair, Ayu Over Alleged Comment On Wike.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has warned Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) national chairman, lyorchia Ayu, against false accusations against it.

Felix Morka, the National Publicity Secretary, issued a cautionary statement on Tuesday.

Ayu, a former Senate President, and Minister, had strongly denied saying Rivers Governor Nyesom Wike could not father a child.

The APC said Ayu alleged that the party’s other mischievous persons were planting such stories in the media and stoking the feud between him and Wike.

Buhari In Closed-Door Meeting With Polish Leader Andrzej Duda.

President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday, met behind closed dooprs with President Andrzej Duda of Poland.

This visit to the State House, Abuja was confirmed by Tolu Ogunlesi, the Special Assistant on Digital and New Media.

The Polish leader, who arrived at the Presidential Villa at about 10.30a.m, was received by the Nigerian leader at the fore Court of the state House.

The two leaders went into bilateral talks to discuss issues concerning both countries as well as international matters.
