The 11-man reconciliation committee of the People’s Democratic party in Akwa Ibom state on Monday submitted its reports to the party executives in the state.

The committee led by Senator Effiong Bob was inaugurated to steer the process of a broad-based reconciliation of all aggrieved members, foster peace, and keep the party stronger after the primaries.

Addressing the executives at the party Secretariat, at Atan Offot, Uyo, the committee chairman, Effiong Bob, said the committee’s findings have indicated that PDP is still intact and strong and ready to win all categories of elections in the state.

He said, “We wrote letters to all categories of aspirants who took part in the just-concluded nominations processes of the party to appear before the committee for discussions and dialogue.

“Mr Chairman, one of the driving tenets and staying strategies of our Party, the PDP, has always been the high value we place on all categories of our members.

“You had given this committee the strict directive that all categories of people who appear before the committee must be granted a fair hearing.

“From aspirants and candidates for the State House of Assembly seats up to the Gubernatorial candidate and aspirants, we had reached out to everyone. We even had to host a Zoom meeting where we brought aspirants who were out of the State and the country to join us on the committee.

“I, therefore, stand here to report to you on behalf of the committee that we had painstakingly listened to all issues brought before us by eminent members of our party who honoured our invitation to appear before the committee.”

While thanking the party for entrusting them with the responsibility of leading the reconciliation efforts, the chairman noted that PDP remains the party to beat in the state.

In his remarks, Chairman of the Party, Hon. Aniekan Akpan, while receiving the report, commended members of the committee for the effort and industry they had invested in handling the task assigned to them and assured that the Party would take time to study the recommendations contained in the report to speedily implement them in the interest of enduring peace, unity, progress and success of the party.

He also used the opportunity to encourage all strata of members of the Party to continue to keep faith with the PDP as Akwa Ibom People had long anchored their trust on the party as the most credible platform for the emergence of leaders on all levels, maintaining that the PDP cannot afford to betray this trust.

Members who also served on the Committee include Hon. Imo Ibokette, Ambassador Assam Assam, Sen. Aloysius Etok, Barr. Uwem Ekanem, Sen. Emmanuel Ibokessien, Rt. Hon. (Dr) Ekaette Ebong Okon, Sir Michael Essang, Rt. Hon. Udo Kierian Akpan, Prof. Imaobong Akpan and Mr Okon Okon.
