Real Madrid Coach Carlo Ancelotti spoke in the press room at the Santiago Bernabeu after his team had slugged it out with Betis to earn a deserved 2-1 win on their return to the Bernabeu.
He talked about having started the season well and analyzed the win against Betis. He said that Betis were good at playing out the ball from the back, which made it difficult for Madrid.
He gave his team a pass mark for doing well in possession, direct play that put pressure on the opponent, and some good link-up-play. However, he said that they could have done better with their final ball and shooting, after creating a lot of chances.
Overall though, he believed that his team had done well and deserved to win, a win which did not come easy due to the quality of the opposition.
This is what he said: “We’ve started the season well. It was a tough game, we had difficulty winning the ball back. Betis play out well from the back and that made it difficult for us. Then, we did well in possession and we were direct and produced some good link-up-play. Our final pass and shooting let us down, but we created a lot of chances and we deserved to win. It wasn’t straightforward as Betis play good football.”
