”ASUU Has Not Accepted The Recent Proposal Of Salary Increment” – Minister Of Education Reveals

In a one-on-one interview with Channels TV Correspondent Seun Okinbaloye and the Minister Of Education, Adamu Adamu. The Minister has disclosed the recent moves being made by the Federal Government to end the prolonged Asuu strike. He also talked about the salary increment proposals being made by the Federal Government.

 According to him, there would be a salary increment of 23.5 percent across the Board and then a 35 percent increase for Professors. He identified that a sum of about N150 billion will he paid for the rehabilitation of University structures. This is inferred to be the recommendation for next year’s 2023 January budget for education. 

However, when he was asked by Seun if Asuu has accepted this demand, the Minister reacted by saying they have rejected the proposal. He went on further to say that they [ASUU] are making consultations among themselves and to see how this would suit them. The minister added that they are hoping things would work out well in the next couple of days.
