NPFL Final Day: Remo Stars win to finish third; Katsina Utd, Heartland relegated

Sunday saw the conclusion of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) season as all teams played their final contests.

When Rivers United became league winners for the first time in history, the outcome of the League had already been determined weeks before.
Remo Stars secured their position as Plateau United’s second runner-up following the final games on Sunday.

After defeating the Niger Tornadoes 3-0 in Ikenne, Andy Okpe’s hat-trick helped Remo finish third.
Next season, Rivers United and Plateau United will play in the Champions League, while Remo Stars will compete in the CAF Confederation Cup.

At the opposite end of the table, Kano Pillars, MFM, Katsina United, and Heartland were all demoted.

Katsina United, who lost 2-0 to Wikki Tourists in Bauchi finished in 17th position while Heartland finished in 18th position despite beating Kwara United 1-0 at the Okigwe Township Stadium.
