Bandits Strike Again: Students Abducted in Sokoto
Reports emerge of bandits kidnapping an unspecified number of Tsangaya students at Gidan Bakuso in Gada local government area of Sokoto state. According to DailyTrust, the abduction took place around 1 am on Saturday, March 9.
Liman Abubakar, the school proprietor, stated that 15 students are currently unaccounted for, with efforts ongoing to ascertain the exact number. He mentioned that the bandits stormed the town around 1 am, shooting one person and abducting a woman in addition to the students.
“This is not the first time our village has been attacked by bandits,” Abubakar lamented.
Confirming the attack, Kabiru Dauda, the member representing Gada-East Constituency in the state House of Assembly, stated that he received a distress call from the village around 2 am. He immediately contacted local government authorities and security agencies for assistance.
Habibu Modachi, representing Isa Constituency, believed the attack was a reprisal following recent raids by security operatives on bandits’ hideouts.
The Sokoto State Police Command is yet to issue a statement regarding the incident.
