Bayern Munich wonderkid Jamal Musiala claims Barcelona and Messi were his favourite growing up

Jamal Musiala, a sensation for Bayern Munich, revealed in an exclusive interview with BILD that Barcelona was his favorite team when he was younger.

Following their re-drawing in the same Champions League group, Bayern Munich and Barça will soon face each other.

In light of the upcoming match, Musiala, one of the most promising young players in European football at the moment, has made the intriguing admission that he was a young supporter of Barcelona and Lionel Messi.

“My go-to and favorite teams were FC Barcelona. A Messi shirt was mine. I was captivated by the Xavi, Iniesta, and Busquets midfield. I could watch their games over and over again,” said Musiala.

The German international added that he was eager to play at a packed Camp Nou because the stadium wasn’t entirely full when Bayern visited Barcelona last year.

Due to the youngster’s quick feet and deft dribbling, German legend Lothar Matthaus has compared Musiala to Messi.

Barcelona and Bayern will play Viktoria Plzen and Inter Milan, respectively, later tonight to open their respective European campaigns. The two teams will square off at the Allianz Arena the following week before playing the rematch at Camp Nou in October.
