THE Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Friday, disclosed move to recruit over 1.4 million adhoc staff in preparation ahead of the 2023 general election.

This was made known by the Chairman, INEC, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, in a keynote address delivered at the launch of Yiaga Africa Election Result Analysis Dashboard (ERAD) Report on Electronic Transmission of Results in the 2022 Ekiti and Osun Governorship Election in Abuja.

A former governor of Ekiti, Mr. Ayo Fayose, has lent his voice to the crisis within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), stating that the presidential flagbearer of the party, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, is not against Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State.

Wike has been at the centre of calls for the party’s chairman, Iyiorcha Ayu’s resignation. The feud between the duo has deepened despite the stepping down of Board of Trustees Chairman (Bot), Walid Jibrin. The National Executive Council of the PDP also passed a vote of confidence in Senator Ayu, further infuriating Wike.

But Fayose claimed that the supposed feud between the two was propelled by enemies wanting friction in the party, maintaining that Atiku and Wike are in no way against each other.

Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) vice presidential candidate and Delta State governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, has claimed that Nigerians were anxious to sack ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) over its failure to provide leadership in the country.

He claimed that Nigerians were prepared to use the forthcoming 2023 general elections to remove APC at all levels of governance over incompetence and insensitivity in handling the affairs of the nation Okowa, spoke, yesterday, through his Chief Press Secretary, Olisa Ifeajika, in an interview at Crown FM Radio, a local radio station Asaba. He noted that security was at the lowest ebb in the country as people could no longer travel freely due to insecurity.

Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Mr. Olakunle Oluomo, was on Friday welcomed by fellow lawmakers and staff members of the assembly.

The speaker, who was ushered into his office by the lawmakers and staff members, was recently arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Mr Olakunle was arrested and arraigned alongside the clerk of the assembly, Deji Adeyemo, by the anti-corruption agency for offences bordering on financial crimes.
