Eight individuals have been detained by Lagos police officers in connection with the attack that occurred in the state last month on Bola Tinubu’s (APC) presidential campaign vehicle.

On June 19, a convoy was attacked along the Adeniji Adele Road in Lagos Island by suspected hoodlums immediately after Tinubu had returned to Lagos from Abuja, where he had clinched the APC presidential nomination.
During operations on their hideouts on Lagos Island, the suspects were apprehended by detectives assigned to Zone 2 Command Headquarters, Onikan, Lagos.
In a statement released on Saturday by the zone’s public relations officer, Hauwa Idris-Adamu, the assistant inspector general of police for Zone 2, Bode Adeleke, confirmed the news.

Adeleke said the suspects confessed they were recruited by different gang leaders based in Lagos Island.

He said: “They also belong to various cult fraternities. Investigations are still ongoing and we will get back to the press as soon as we have the principal suspect in our net.”
