The Governor of Ebonyi State, David Umahi has appealed to the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) to reconsider its strategy to end the lingering strike action that has kept students at home for months.

He recently disclosed this during an interview, explaining that though the struggle of the educational union is for the welfare of Nigerian students, they should accept whatever condition the Federal government has given them while waiting for a lasting solution to their demands.
In summary, he said: “ASUU demands are justifiable, it is never self serving. When we get our education system right in this country, many things will fall in place. Somebody who is properly and well educated will not go to carry guns. My position is that everybody has seen the cries of ASUU and I commend them very highly, but at this stage, well meaning Nigerians and stakeholders could be allowed to participate and dialogue with them”.
