At least 100 homes and many farmlands have been damaged by a severe flood in the Darazo Local Government Area of Bauchi State.
Alhaji Bala Lame, the acting director-general of the Bauchi State Emergency Management Agency (BASEMA), who informed journalists of the development on Saturday in Bauchi, claimed that the flood was brought on by three days of heavy rain in the region.
He expressed alarm over the neighborhood’s loss of homes and fields.
Lame said that the agency’s administration had already travelled to the affected area to evaluate the extent of the flood’s devastation.
The DG said: “We have received a report that the flood destroyed many households with over 100 houses damaged.
“However, the affected people are living with their relatives in the town or nearby settlements that were not affected.”
