PDP Crisis: BOT Chairman Set To Resign As NEC Committee Revolts Against Ayu

The chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP, Mallam Walid Jibrin is set to resign his position as chairman of the committee for equity and justice to the southern region of the country.

It was reported by the Cable, that Mallam Walid Jibrin is ready to resign his position to stop the crisis rocking the party.

Sources close to the chairman, Board of Trustees, told the Cable on Wednesday, that Jibrin has already briefed senior members of the party of his decision to quit as BOT chairman.

Jibrin is taken the decision, in the best interest of the party, since there are complaints of regional lopsidedness “one of the sources said.

It should be recalled that, Atiku Abubakar, who is the presidential candidate of the PDP, is from the northeast, Jibrin is from Nasarawa, north central and the national chairman of the party, senator Iyorchia Ayu is from Benue state, (north central).

It was reported, that the members of the committee, welcomed Walid Jibrin’s decision but also insisted that Ayu must resign as National Chairman of the party.

Meanwhile, the national executive council has also revolts against the national chairman of the party, Iyorchia Ayu. It was gathered that the NEC committee, insisted that they will not allow Ayu to preside over the NEC meeting.

It should be recalled, that Ayu has insisted that he will not step down as chairman of the party, in contrary to his earlier promise he made, that he would resign his position, if the presidential candidate of the party could emerge from the north.
