UEFA Nations League: Final Group A2 Table And Match Reviews After Spain Won 2-0 & Portugal Lost 1-0

Spain 2-0 Czech Republic

Valencia midfielder Carlos Soler opened the score after receiving a ball from Marco Asensio, before substitute Pablo Sarabia doubled the hosts’ advantage.

After Barcelona winger Ferran Torres flashed a ball across goal, the 30-year-old tapped in from close range.

Sarabia fired another barely wide from the edge of the box as Spain dominated possession with 72 percent.

In the first half, the visitors had chances of their own, but Vaclav Cerny and Jan Kutcha both missed. Carlos Soler has already scored three goals for Spain in his ninth appearance for the national team, and Asensio provided the assist for this one.

Switzerland 1-0 Portugal

Switzerland defeated Portugal in Group A2 with the fastest goal in the Nations League’s brief history, scored by Haris Seferovic.

In Geneva, the Benfica forward headed in after only 55 seconds to get the hosts off to a good start.

In the second half, Seferovic pulled another shot wide, but Switzerland needed Jonas Omlin to be on his game.

He made a fantastic stop to deny Goncalo Guedes and denied Bernardo Silva’s attempt from range.

As Portugal attempted and failed to draw level without Cristiano Ronaldo, Joao Cancelo curled over and Diogo Jota’s header was saved by Omlin.

It’s worth noting that Haris Seferovic became the first player since Alain Sutter in 1988 to score for Switzerland in under a minute, and Widmer provided the assist.
