Sani Ahmed Toro, the abducted former Secretary General of the erstwhile Nigeria Football Association (NFA), now the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), has been released together with two others.

Sani Ahmed Toro, Garba Ila, and Isa Jaa were claimed to be undergoing treatment at an unidentified health institution as of the time of this story, while information on their release was still vague.

SP Ahmed Wakili, the PPRO of the Bauchi State Police Command, confirmed that they had been released but could not provide any other information.

They were reportedly freed at 5 a.m. on Tuesday and are claimed to be in good health.

It was unclear whether a ransom was paid before the abductors were released, although the abductors were alleged to have sought N150 million in ransom.

In a similar vein, Yahya Saleh Abubakar, the Village Head of Zira in Toro Local Government Area, and his son Habibu Saleh were released three days after being kidnapped by unidentified gunmen.

“Today, Village Head of Zirya and his Son have regained freedom, and both of them are in good health condition,” said the Bauchi state Police Command’s PPRO, SP Ahmed Wakili, in a statement.

He did not provide any other details about the release, but promised to provide them as they were available.

Unidentified gunmen kidnapped the Village Head and his son at gunpoint and wanted an undisclosed amount of money as ransom. It was unclear whether a ransom was paid before to their release late Monday night.
