Why PDP Will Not Sacrifice Ayu’s Position Just To Satisfy Wike And Members Of His Camp – Charles Aniagwu

The spokesperson of Atiku Abubakar for 2023 presidential election, Charles Aniagwu, has finally disclosed the reasons why the Peoples Democratic Party will not ask Iyorchia Ayu to step down so that someone from the southern part of Nigeria will take over.

According to Charles Aniagwu, it is true that Nyesom Wike and members of his camp are demanding the position of the national chairman of PDP, however, PDP cannot grant their wish because doing so will create a major crisis which could be bigger than what the party is currently facing.

According to Charles Aniagwu, the Constitution of the party made it compulsory that the national chairman and his deputy must both come from the same region. For this reason, if PDP asks Ayu to step down, the deputy national chairman will also have to step down as well because he is also from the north.

Charles Aniagwu went on to say that considering the fact that the national chairman and his deputy must come from the same region, the Constitution of PDP clearly states that the national secretary of the party must come from a different region. According to Charles Aniagwu, the national secretary of PDP is from the south.

Charles Aniagwu explained that if Ayu and his deputy are made to step down, two southerns are made the national chairman and deputy chairman, then the party must also force the national secretary to step down because he is from the south. Charles Aniagwu disclosed that if all these changes are made just to satisfy Wike and his supporters, PDP may end up angering a great number of the party members because of the different offices which has to be tampered with.
