Why we suspended Dumebi Kachikwu, ADC National Chairman

The Chairman of African Democratic Congress (ADC), Ralph Nwosu has explained the real reason the party suspended its presidential candidate, Dumebi Kachikwu.

Recall that the African Democratic Congress (ADC) suspended Dumebi Kachikwu as a presidential candidate after accused him of releasing, among other offenses, a false, foolish, and defamatory video.

The party argues that Kachikwu’s behavior is “totally inappropriate for someone who wants to be President of Nigeria” and demonstrates “crass irresponsibility, severe indiscipline, deceitful scandalization and blackmail.”

Dr. Bamidele Ajadi, the ADC deputy national chairman for politics, added that the choice was made as a result of a determination made at an urgent National Working Committee (NWC) meeting on Friday, September 2.

Ralph Nwosu, National Chairman of the ADC, voiced alarm about the trend in an interview on Sunday Politics, a Channels TV political program, and claimed that some people had stampeded the party into nearly complete immobility.

He claims that this is upsetting for the ADC and its creators.

Nwosu claimed that the National Working Committee of the ADC considered all of its alternatives before deciding that the problem must be resolved.

“Twelve persons ran for president, but after the national convention, things seemed to be deteriorating, and we believed this shouldn’t be,” he stated.

“We have been in discussions with the party leaders; we would ask them to draft this document, but as soon as we did, something else would come up, and he would decide he was going abroad.

He has traveled abroad more than five times, and each time we call him to tell him that we have all constructed something and reached this stage. ADC has been nearly immobilized by a stampede, which would irritate the party’s founders as well as its members, he continued.

“Two months ago, when I believed that the National Chairman was the problem, I volunteered to quit so that someone who is the candidate can work well with them, since I saw and still see Dumebi winning the Presidency,” he stated.

“I wanted to resign as Chairman, but after talking with the leaders, they told I couldn’t. I started the party, and this has made me feel awful. Although I nearly used up all of my resources doing this, our party has essentially disintegrated now, Nwosu continued.

After several organizations merged to form the new ADC, Nwosu claimed that the ADC adopted a new constitution in 2018 and added that the constitution Dumebi was citing is backwards-looking. According to Vanguard report.
