The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in the opinion of Bayo Onanuga, Director, Media & Publicity, All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council, has nothing to offer Nigerians.
Onanuga made this statement in response to the opposition party’s criticism of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the APC’s presidential candidate.
The opposition party responded to Tinubu’s earlier remark in which he questioned why the PDP was still in power by saying that Tinubu was no match for it in the 2019 elections.
In a statement on Monday, Onanuga alleged that Tinubu had offended the PDP by reminding it of its 16 years of cash-and-carry control, which had caused the mess the APC administration had been attempting to clean up.
“Asiwaju Tinubu had questioned the PDP’s intention to return power eight years after forgoing hundreds of unfulfilled agreements and projects worth trillions of Naira in the name of morality.
“A party without a track record of creative planning and yet having leadership problems has no place in Nigeria’s future, according to the APC presidential contender.
The Abuja-Kaduna railway, the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, and the Second Niger Bridge are a few of the incomplete initiatives that the PDP administration abandoned. PDP abandoned incomplete railroads, highways, power plants, and ports, revealing a nation with a sputtering economy and a socially bewildered populace.
“The PDP era was contrasted by the APC presidential candidate with the party’s seven years in power and its promises for the future.
“The seriously handicapped PDP abandoned all etiquette and flung obscenities at Tinubu rather than replying to the clear challenges he addressed. This is often a sign of a party that has nothing to offer the public. No decent person, however, believes PDP would perform better. As the ruling party and while in opposition, the party and its leaders were directionless.
