[ad_1]

let us look at the top 5 bust-ups that led to players or managers choosing not to share pleasantries before or after the match.

The two veteran managers got into quite a big tiff during a league game between West Ham United and Arsenal, as the two had a fight after the Hammers scored a late winner.

What started as some pushing and shoving ended with Wenger choosing not to shake Pardew’s hand after the game. The two had been involved in controversies earlier as well, when Pardew criticised Wenger for not playing an English player in a Champions League game, while Wenger accused Pardew of being a xenophobe (someone who dislikes people from other countries).

In 2017, José Mourinho refused to shake Mark Hughes’s hand after Manchester United’s 2-2 draw with Stoke City because he believed the Welshman told him to “fuck off” during the game.

In the second half at the Bet365 Stadium Mourinho and Hughes clashed and at the close the Portuguese shook hands with some Stoke staff but not their manager

Afterwards Mourinho would not elaborate on whether he had refused to shake, though Hughes was adamant United’s manager did so. However it is understood Mourinho thought he was told to “fuck off” by Hughes when moving near him on the touchline during the match. Mourinho also believed Hughes had told the referee, Neil Swarbrick, to send him to the stands for encroaching into the Stoke technical area. This followed an incident in which Hughes seemed to be upset.

3. Anton Ferdinand – John Terry

Anton Ferdinand did not shake hands with Chelsea’s John Terry prior to kick-off of the Premier League fixture between QPR and Chelsea at Loftus Road in 2012.

Terry was accused of racist abuses at Ferdinand; The QPR defender Ferdinand walked past Chelsea’s Terry and then also avoided shaking hands with Ashley Cole.

2. Patrice Evra and Luis Suarez

Liverpool striker Luis Suarez refused to shake Manchester United captain Patrice Evra’s hand at Old Trafford in 2012.

The issue was kicked off when Luis Suarez was accused to have directed racist comments towards Evra; which later led to the then Liverpool striker earning a 10-match ban. The Uruguayan international decided to move his hand away during the two teams’ next encounter as Evra offered to shake his hand.

1. Wayne Bridge – John Terry

John Terry and Wayne Bridge played together at Chelsea and the England team and were good friends, but their relationship ended when Terry began having an affair with Bridge’s wife Vanessa Perroncel.

Bridge later joined Manchester City and the two faced each other in the Premier League Match (Chelsea v Man City) in 2010, Bridge refused to shake Terry’s hand and everyone knew their friendship was over.
