Taraba: ISWAP behind Army Commander’s kidnap, killed soldiers evacuated – Sources

The latest deadly hit in Taraba State was carried out by the Islamic State’s West Africa Province (ISWAP).

Intelligence sources confirmed that the sect abducted an Army Commander as earlier.

At least six soldiers died during the fierce battle with several insurgents.

ISWAP attacked troops on a military operation at Tati village in Takum Local Government Area.

The kidnapped senior personnel is the Commanding Officer of 93 Battalion. One of his aides is also missing.

But the terrorists too suffered casualties at Ananum village in Donga and nearby locations.

A military officer disclosed that troops at some point withdrew to allow for reinforcement.

“We are conducting a search and rescue operation. An aggressive military operation is also ongoing in the axis.

“The network in the area is poor for communication. However, we have evacuated the corpses of the soldiers”, he told PRNigeria.
