The mega star doing his thing prior to the fall…

Over the years, one of the foremost musicians that enjoyed utmost respect was R-Kelly, not because he was black, but owing largely to the fact that, his voice and songwriting prowess were top notch. He used classic materials to create R/B and Gospel songs such as monster hits like, “Storm is Over,” “If I Could Turn Back The Hands Of Time,” “I Believe I Can Fly,” and many others. He was undoubtedly one of the most popular and talented musicians of his generation, one that earned him the nickname “King Of R&B”.

Still pretty much the star boy here…

But while the singer was on stage entertaining the world with his music, not many knew about the ugly things that were going on in his personal life behind the scenes. After working so hard to cement his legendary status in the music industry, R-Kelly’s gold tainted legacy became soiled following his embroilment in series of dirty sexual controversies. In September 2021, a New York jury convicted him of racketeering and eight counts of sex trafficking. As gathered, the singer ran a scheme that sexually abused women and children.

In prison uniform…

Little wonder that, on conviction this week, no one known lady that he had an affair or encounter with, spared any kind word for him.

With decades of sexual misconduct allegations, the RNB singer kept evading criminal penalties, but earlier this week, he was convicted in Brooklyn as Judge Ann M. Donnelly condemned him to spend the next 30 years of his life locked away in prison. According to the judge “The public has to be protected from behaviors like this”. How sad!

Crest fallen, with the next 30 years in jail

Indeed, the sentencing marks the culmination of a stunning downfall for R. Kelly. By the time he gets out of prison, R-Kelly would be have been 85 years of age.

From a superstar hitmaker who was known as the king of R&B to a criminal convict; R-Kelly’s downfall has been humiliating, damaging and self inflicted.
