ASUU Strike: I Sell A Plate Of Food From N200 And Above, Final-Year Medical Student Says

Due to the prolonged industrial action by University lecturers, Usman Abubakar-Rimi, A Medicine and Surgery final year student in the Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto, has turned to street food Vendor.

On Friday, during an interview with the Nigeria News agency in Sokoto, Usman Abubakar-Rimi explained that the ongoing strike embarked on by the Academic Staff Union of Universities has given him the full opportunity to focus on his business. He said he realised he has to start something to engage in productive living seeing how the strike has forced students to become redundant.



He said he owned a food outlet and Indomie joint in the Diplomat area in Sokoto metropolis, adding that he started full-scale food selling in the last two months and described the business as a very lucrative one.

He said he owned another shop where he sells clothing, caps, student bags, and shoes for both men and women.

In a publication made by The Punch, He said, “I hired a shop, employing eight people manning tea and Indomie joints, selling bottled and canned drinks, masa, rice and beans, pepper soup and meat along with the Point of Sale business.

“A plate of food sells from N200 and above depending on the needs of the customer.”
