Court Dismisses Blessing CEO’s Lawsuit Against Police IG and Late Bimbo’s Sister”

the federal high court in ikoyi, lagos, under the leadership of justice ambrose lewis-allagoa, has rejected a fundamental rights lawsuit filed against the inspector general of police (igp), kayode egbetokun, and mrs. folashade samuels by social media influencer blessing okoro.

in her suit, blessing ceo alleged that her arrest and police invitation violated her fundamental human rights and sought protection from further interference with her freedom. however, justice lewis-allagoa ruled against all of okoro’s claims, stating that the police had acted lawfully based on a criminal complaint against her.

the judge emphasized that there was no evidence of malicious intent in the complaint against okoro and affirmed that the police’s actions were justified within the law.

blessing ceo, who was arrested by the nigerian police force on march 30, 2023, faced additional charges related to cyber-bullying, libel, and the display of explicit content. the prosecution accused her of using her instagram platform to harass and defame folashade samuels, sister to the late bimbo ogbonna, wife of ikechukwu ogbonna, also known as ivd. the case highlighted the complexities of online behavior and its legal ramifications.
