In a congratulatory statement signed by APC Chieftain whichwas made available to newsmen in Abuja and Benin City Gen Cecil Esekhaigbe described Victor Osimhen’s performance in the Italian Serie A league this season as a testament of the resiliency, hardworking and tenacity of the Edo man and the determination to succeed.

Onbelf of myself and the good people of Edo state, I congratulate Mr. Victor Osimhen for his sterling performance in the Italian Serie A league, which resulted in Napoli’s victory after 33 years, after decades of domestic struggles, but thank to Mr. Victor Osimhen’s sterling performance Napoli has dominated the 2022/23 Serie A season like never before.

The title is the first for the club in 33 years, last winning the Italian top flight in 1990 when Diego Maradona led Napoli to the summit of Italian football.

I commend Mr Victor Osimhen for his discipline, dedication, and hard work in the way he has represented Edo state and Nigeria.

With this in mind, we are hopeful that creating the enabling environment in Edo state, our teeming youths will excel in sports and other areas of their chosen. We will continue to speak to all stakeholders to take sports seriously and help build functional sports facilities across Edo state.

Gen Cecil Esekhaigbe hopes to work with Mr Victor Osimhen in the future to help bring a first-class talent hunt across Edo state. He enjoined Mr Victor Osimhen to continue to work hard to break more barriers and help shine light on the need for our youths to dedicate themselves to hard work and winning ways of our forebears.
