The Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola, has had to go through an emergency surgical procedure for a back issue, as confirmed by the club’s official statement on Tuesday.
The surgery took place in Barcelona, where he is currently in the process of recuperating.
During this period, which extends until after the September international break, the 52-year-old will be absent from the helm for Manchester City’s Premier League matches against Sheffield United and Fulham.
A statement from Manchester City read, “Pep Guardiola underwent a scheduled surgery to address a back problem. The entire Manchester City team wishes him a swift recovery and anticipates his return to Manchester in the near future.”
This development follows Guardiola’s leadership in guiding Manchester City to a 1-0 victory over Newcastle United the previous weekend.
