Gov. Godwin Obaseki Of Edo State Weighs The Option Of Joining Labour Party Before The Next Rounds Of Polls.

By Ebor Cletus Ralph Jr.

The defeated Presidential Candidate of the Labour party, Mr Peter Obi is expected in Edo state this weekend ahead of next week’ State assembly elections nationwide.

During the visit, it is expected that the Edo state governor, Mr Godwin Obaseki will finally dump his party, the PDP and join the Labour party.

Obaseki’s decision is a follow up to the series of meetings he is having with Labour party leaders and candidates for the State Assembly elections.

In one of the meetings, it was gathered that the governor after begging the party to save him from political extinction made donations of N500million, over 5000 bags of rice and 100,000 cartons of Indomie noddles to the Labour party leadership across the state.

If the governor joins the labour party it will not be a surprise as he has in the past romanced it to the extent of hosting the party primaries in his office after buying them nomination forms for the assembly elections.

Mr Obi is excited at the prospect of Governor Obaseki joining him as it will earn him a sitting governor as a party member.

Meanwhile Mr Obaseki has been at the receiving end of attacks from the APC which leadership accuses him of running the state as his personal business having crippled the state legislature for four years

The APC has also referred to Obaseki as the Sole Administrator of the state and accused him of running a clueless and rudderless administration, describing it as the most corrupt regime in the entire country.
