Eight security personnel, including three police officers, were slain by gunmen on Saturday during an attack in the Jidda-Bassa town of Kogi State’s Ajaokuta Local Government Area.
The other victims belonged to a state-based neighbourhood watch organisation.
The victims were ambushed by the local hoodlums, according to Jerry Omodara, the state governor’s security adviser, who confirmed the incident to journalists in Lokoja.
He added that the attackers are being sought for by security officers and that they will not escape punishment.
