Zagazola Makama, a security analyst and counter-insurgency specialist in the Lake Chad region, has described how Boko Haram members were ambushed on Sunday night by ISWAP terrorists in what was obviously a supremacy struggle, resulting in the deaths of six of them and the confiscation of weapons.

Makama, who tweeted about the incident, claimed that ISWAP members broke into the Boko Haram stronghold and attacked the rebels.

“In what appeared to be a continuation of their sustained inter-rivalry clash, the fighters of the Islamic State of West African Province (ISWAP) at the weekend attacked the enclaves of Boko Haram, during which six of them were reportedly killed,” the expert said.

“ISWAP had in a silent operation stormed the enclave of Boko Haram insurgents in Gajibo, a town 95km northeast of Maiduguri, Borno State capital and slaughtered six whom they declared as infidels,” Makama wrote.

He said that ISWAP has engaged in numerous effective operations against Boko Haram terrorists during their protracted disputes, which caused the sect to suffer losses in both manpower and military resources.
