Minister of Power Promises Brighter Days Ahead, Assures Swift Resolution to Power Challenges

Adebayo Adelabu, the Minister of Power, has reassured Nigerians that the Ministry is diligently working to address the ongoing power outages across the country. Speaking at a press briefing in Abuja on Monday, March 11, Adelabu acknowledged the recent challenges faced by Nigerians due to frequent power cuts.

Encouraging patience from citizens, Adelabu emphasized that the government is actively tackling the root causes of the power crises. He outlined plans to increase power generation from the current 4500 MegaWatts (MW) to 6500 MW, aimed at improving the overall power supply situation.

Adelabu expressed disappointment with the performance of electricity distribution companies (DisCos) and vowed to impose sanctions on those underperforming. Additionally, he revealed plans to reorganize the coverage areas of certain DisCos to ensure that underserved communities receive better electricity access.

The minister urged Nigerians to maintain trust and confidence in the Ministry’s efforts, assuring them that the situation would soon improve. He concluded by stating that, despite understandable grievances during periods of power shortage, the Ministry is committed to resolving the crisis swiftly.
