Channels reports that the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has indicated that its determination to not back the All Progressive Congress (APC) muslim-muslim ticket has not changed and that their conscience cannot be bought with money.
It will be remembered that in July, the All Progressives Congress presidential candidate, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, a Muslim, chose former Borno State governor Kashim Shettima, also a Muslim, as his running mate, infuriating Christians and their organisations.
Archbishop Daniel Okoh, the current CAN president, stated through his Special Assistant on Media, Jannamike, that the Christian Association of Nigeria will not support the APC’s Muslim-Muslim ticket. This was in response to news that CAN had agreed to endorse All Progressive Congress presidential candidate Bola Ahmed Tinubu, according to a report by Sahara Reporters.
Bola Ahmed Tinubu was among the special guests who made donations to the Kukah centre at most Reverend Bishop Matthew-Hassan Kukah’s 70th birthday party, and Jannamike has denied that there was any agreement between Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Bishop Matthew-Hassan Kukah to endorse him.
