The Nigerian Army troops of Operation Hadin Kai, 7 Division Garrison have arrested a 15-man notorious Malian criminal gang after a major crackdown on gang-related activity in Maiduguri, the capital of the restive Borno State, northeast Nigeria.
the arrest followed swift investigations into reports of activities of the gangs in Gwange, Umarari and Jajeri areas of MMC Local Government Areas of the state.
The criminals had been attacking citizens and snatching their mobile phones and other belongings, a situation which has resulted in the loss of several lives and severe injuries inflicted on innocent citizens in the state.
The spate of urban gangsterism perpetrated by criminal gangs on residents of Maiduguri prompted the troops to conduct a sting operation in the identified areas.
during the operations, 15 suspects were apprehended at about 11:40pm on 9, June 2023.
“Items recovered from the suspects include; one pump action gun, one axe, one jack knife and 5 phones.
The suspects and items have been handed over to the Department of State Security Service for further action.
