Official: Andrew Crofts will take over as Brighton’s interim manager

Brighton’s U21 youth team coach will take over, on an interim basis, to lead the English club in the upcoming matches.

It has taken Brighton an hour to announce an interim replacement in the dugout following the departure of Graham Potter. Andrew Crofts, the former England Under-21 coach, will take charge of the squad for the upcoming Premier League game against Bournemouth, and will be joined by his regular assistant team of Shannon Ruth, Nick Stanley and Jack Stern for as long as it takes for the board to find a permanent manager.

The Welsh manager arrived at Brighton for the 2019/20 season and took on a player-coach role at the same time. That is, he was playing for the U-23 Premier League 2 side and managing the U-21 team. All this until the end of the 2021/22 campaign, where he ceased to embody this curious role to focus solely on that of coach.

Andrew Crofts began his playing career in 2003 and until just a year ago he continued his professional career in England, playing for Brighton’s first team for five seasons.
