Rep. Lawrence Ayeni (APC-Osun) says Pastor Enoch Adeboye has tried to settle the political rift between Osun State Governor, Gboyega Oyetola, and his predecessor, Rauf Aregbesola, to no avail.

Adeboye, who is the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), and Aregbesola, the incumbent Minister of Interior, are both from Osun.

Ayeni, who represents the Osun federal constituencies of Atakumosa East/West and Atakumosa West/East, revealed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday in Abuja.

Due to the split between the Ileri Oluwa faction and The Osun Progressive, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) won the state’s governorship election on July 15. (TOP).

According to daily trust, the governor is in charge of the Ileri Oluwa group, whereas the minister is in charge of the TOP group.

According to Ayeni, Adeboye was scheduled to arrange a reconciliation meeting intended to mend the gap between the two gladiators, but one of them did not show up.

The legislator claimed that although Adeboye originally turned down the offer to mediate the duo’s political dispute on the grounds that he was not a politician, he eventually agreed to do so.

Adeboye claimed that for him, he was not a politician and that he would not poke-nose because of a few things, but they were unable to meet in his home.

“Maybe the crisis would have been resolved if they had been able to meet him.

One of them even skipped the scheduled meeting with Adeboye, to which the latter responded, “Well, that’s it,” the speaker continued.

Others, according to Rep. Ayeni, including the previous temporary chairman of the APC, Chief Bisi Akande, the former governor Segun Osoba, and even the APC’s presidential candidate, Sen. Bola Tinubu, made unsuccessful attempts to mend the divide.

He claimed that every APC member from Osun who is in the House of Representatives tried their hardest to end the crisis but came up against a brick wall.

The congressman claimed that, as of now, he was unable to explain how the two may have come to disagree, and he added that it was better that the disagreement was resolved in order to prevent it from harming the party’s chances in the general elections. (NAN)
