The Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, has vowed to sustain the fight for the return of a healthy party structure that will allow an even representation of the interest of the North and South in the national leadership of the Peoples Democratic party.

The governor said the current leadership structure, with the North holding the presidential ticket as well as the national chairman positions, was against the constitution of the PDP and a gross injustice to the South.

Wike made the observation at the inauguration of the Ahoada Campus and staff quarters of the Rivers State University, which was performed by the Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, on Thursday.

Senator Oluremi Tinubu, wife of the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, admitted on Thursday that the absence of APC National Chairman, Senator Abdullahi Adamu, was sorely felt by a larger majority of lawmakers in the Senate.

Adamu submitted his resignation letter to the leadership of the Senate after he emerged the National Chairman of the ruling party at the March 26 Convention.

Oluremi, who led a delegation of women leaders on ‘solidarity’ visitation to see Adamu and the National Working Committee ahead of September 28 political campaign, expressed confidence that her husband would consolidate on the gains of the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), once elected.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Executive Committee (NEC) on Thursday, passed a vote of confidence in the party’s National Chairman, Senator Iyorchia Ayu.

DAILY POST recalls that the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike and some of his loyalists in the party had demanded Ayu’s resignation as the only condition to end the lingering crisis rocking the party.

However, a total of 397 members of the NEC including past national chairmen of the party, the immediate past Vice President of the country, Namadi Sambo, and the PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar among others were accredited for the meeting.

Feelers emerging from the the National Working Committee, NWC and National Caucus meetings of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) are enough indications that National Chairman, Iyorchia Ayu, no longer enjoys the confidence of party members, The Nigerian Agenda for Inclusion, TNAI, has said.

The Nigerian Agenda for Inclusion in a statement on Thursday in Abuja questioned Ayu’s believe in the party’s history and its philosophy of inclusion, spread and fairness, noting that his conduct is inconsistent with the party’s founding fathers.

TNAI in the statement signed by Alexander Obisesan, noted that “the reason Chairman-Ayu committed to resignation should the Presidential Candidate emerge from the North was because of the established norms and conventions that find anchor in the principle of rotation and inclusion.
