A heart-wrenching incident unfolded in Ilorin, Kwara State, as three siblings tragically lost their lives due to suffocation inside a parked car at their residential quarters in Sango-Kulende.

The distressing event transpired around 2pm on Sunday, February 25, 2024, when the children, comprising a boy and two girls, inadvertently locked themselves inside the stationary vehicle borrowed by their father from his sister.

Upon returning from an errand, the children’s mother was horrified to discover her offspring trapped inside the locked car, with their footwear left outside—a grim indication of the unfolding tragedy.

In a desperate attempt to rescue her children, she raised an alarm and managed to force open the car doors. However, it was too late to save them.

Eyewitnesses recount the frantic rush to Olutayo Clinic, located in close proximity to their residence, for urgent medical intervention. Despite efforts, the medical director, Dr. Adeyemo, advised their immediate transfer to the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital, where the devastating news of their demise was confirmed.

In accordance with Islamic customs, the three siblings were laid to rest at the Muslim cemetery after their tragic demise, leaving their community mourning the irreplaceable loss of young lives.
