Europe’s elite football competition returns in grand style this week. The UEFA Champions League promises to be more excitements this time around. The first 16 group stage matches kicks off the action which is scheduled between September 6th and 7th.
The glamour and thrill the competition brings every year makes it one of the most recognized competition in Europe and the world. No wonder a lot of players are eager to feature in the competition.
However, only a few players get to make an appearance in the competition. This season, a couple of players are expected to make their UEFA champions league debut. Two of which are the latest additions to the Chelsea squad.
Wesley Fofana (Chelsea)
The 21-year-old defender made a late switch from Leicester City to Chelsea during the summer transfer window. The vibrant player is yet to feature in Europe’s elite football competition in his career and could see his dream become a reality this season.
While he played for Leicester City and Saint-Étienne, both clubs failed to qualify for the Champions League. However, his current club Chelsea are in the UCL anad he could go on to make his first-ever Champions League debut.
Marc Cucurella (Chelsea)
Spanish defender, Marc Cucurella moved sides as well in the summer window. He was reportedly acquired for £63 million from English side Brighton & Hove Albion. 
Marc has played in the UEFA Europa League before, during his days with Spanish side Getafe but not in the UEFA Champions League.
The Spanish left-back has longed to make an appearance in the UEFA Champions League but hasn’t been able to do so in his career. His move to Chelsea has finally provided him the opportunity to make his debut in the competition.
