We’re Angry About Using Diaspora Funds For Election, But Not Angry About Using Public Fund – Shehu Sani

A few hours ago, a former lawmaker who represented the good people of Kaduna Central Senatorial District, Shehu Sani while sharing on his official Twitter page has dragged some Nigerians who are lamenting, saying that some politicians are collecting funds abroad for their campaign, ahead of the general 2023 Presidential election.

While sharing on his official Twitter page, the President of the Civil Rights Congress of Nigeria and human rights activist, Shehu Sani noted that some Nigerians are angry about diaspora funds for election, but the same people are okay using public founds for election.

It might interest you to know that a group under the aegis of Bola Tinubu-Kashim Shettima Connect had called on the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to disqualify the former governor of Anambra State and Presidential candidate of the Labour Party, LP, Peter Gregory Obi for allegedly collecting the sum of $150 million from Nigerians living abroad, for his campaign, saying it violates the Electoral Act on campaign funding.

Based on these notes, the outspoken Senator, Shehu Sani suggested that it will be a good idea if the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, disqualify candidates who also use public funds for their campaign.
