We’re Angry When Diaspora Funds Are Used For Elections, But Not Angry When Public Funds Are Used- Sani

Senator Shehu Sani, a former senator who served the good people of the Kaduna Central Senatorial Zone, has brought certain Nigerians who have been protesting that some politicians are receiving funding from abroad for their campaigns in advance of the presidential election in 2019 into the discussion.

The former congressman made it plain in a message on his verified Twitter account that while some Nigerians are upset with the use of diaspora monies for elections, the same people are not upset about the use of public funds for elections.

Remember that a particular organization petitioned the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, requesting that the electoral body remove Mr. Peter Obi, the presidential candidate for the Labour Party, for allegedly receiving $150 million from Nigerians residing overseas for his campaign.

I firmly believe that it will be a good idea for the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to also disqualify candidates who are using public funding for their campaigns in light of what Senator Shehu Sani has just revealed.
