House of Representatives hopeful for Isoko Federal Constituency Dr Sylvester Onoyona of the All Progressives Congress, APC,  has urged Governor Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa to spare some time from his campaign tour to attend to pressing matters back home as Isoko communities in Delta State, are presently being ravaged by flood waters.

In a statement issued in Oleh, Headquarters of Isoko South Local Government Area of Delta State, South-South Nigeria, Tuesday, Dr Onoyona stressed that the entire Isoko nation is urgently in need of attention as the entire communities are submerged by flood, “thereby increasing the suffering of the already overwhelmed people of Isoko”  his said.

Going further, Onoyona said that the government of Delta State is demonstrating “a costly lethergy” considering the plight of Deltans particularly, Isoko people, adding that, governor Okowa has more interest in “Abuja politics” than giving life and hope to the hopeless.

According to the House of Representatives aspirant, no single farmland in the entire Isoko landscape has been spared in the flooding, wiping out the means of livelihood of many, “while (unfortunately), the operators of the political system in the state junket to Abuja” without showing any concern.

Onoyona lamentated that the state governor has continued in the trademark abuses suffered in the hands of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in the past.

Going down memory lane, Onoyona recalled that similar incident happened in 2012 with same party abandoning Isoko people to their fate and painfully so.
