The Committee of Vice Chancellors of Nigerian Universities (CVCNU) has promised to resolve the ongoing strike and has also urged the Federal Government to increase the salary of university professors to N800,000 as against the N1.2 million negotiated by the Nimi Briggs committee.
This aforementioned increament will represent 50 percent increase against the 23 percent initially proposed by the Federal government.
The committee of VC’s also set up a peace team of elders to resolve the lingering strike between Federal government and the University Union.
Professor Michael Faborode, the Chairman of the committee made it known that the goal of the team was to find a way to solve the strike between the two parties.
The Team according to the chairman will liaise with the Prof. Nimi Briggs committee and thier reports and also check with both the federal government and ASUU to identify the areas of concern and objection.
Meetings and consultations will also be held between the two parties and the committee online by Zoom and also face-to-face to safe costs once we make progress.
