ASUU: Nothing wrong in Nigerians going to Ghana, Benin to study- Adamu

It is permissible for Nigerian students to seek higher education overseas and in other African nations, according to Education Minister Adamu Adamu.

In an interview with Channels TV on September 7, Adamu discussed the ministry’s attempts to prevent students from opting to attend foreign colleges over Nigerian ones.

Statistics show that there are currently 75,000 Nigerians working as undergraduate instructors in Ghana, Egypt, and the Benin Republic. In response to the numbers, the minister claimed that it is not a recent problem.

It doesn’t have a bad reputation in the sense that walking outside to study is not a terrible thing. You need only point out that our colleges should work to attract students if you want the money to start flowing in rather than going out,” he said.

In addition, he refuted claims that parents are sending their kids to study in other African colleges as a result of Nigeria’s educational system, saying that people can study anywhere as a result of the internationalization of educational institutions.
