ASUU Strike is a Source of Anguish and Internal Turmoil to me- Education Minister, Mallam Adamu.

Nigerian minister of Education, Mallam Adamu, has decided to speak about the ongoing strike carried out by the ASUU body, as he revealed two of the many things that such industrial action has turned out to be for him over the past few months.

Recall that Mallam Adamu had in the early hours of today, met with the vice-chancellors and pro-chancellors of the different federal universities across the country, to find a lasting solution to the 6 months strike carried out by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).

Speaking at the meeting, the minister described the ongoing strike by the academic body as a source of anguish and internal turmoil to him, adding that the past few weeks of meeting with the ASUU have been a very dark period for the education sector.

According to The Cable, Mallam Adamu further called on the vice-chancellors and pro-chancellors, as he asked them to promote policies that would help in dealing with the issues of industrial disputes in the universities.

Reacting to ASUU president, Emmanuel Osodeke’s statement that the ASUU body will no longer discuss with the present administration with regards to the ongoing strike, the minister stated that such statement must be resisted in order to salvage the country’s educational system.
