Strike: Review Your Strategy For Our Children’s Sake – David Umah Begs ASSU

The Academic Staff Union of Universities’, or ASUU, demands have been supported by David Umahi, the governor of Ebonyi State.

However, he pleaded with the union to reconsider its approach in order to put an end to the ongoing industrial strike in the country’s colleges.

This was said by Umahi while answering questions on Friday’s episode of the Arise TV Morning Show.

The requests made by ASUU, he claimed, were reasonable, but for the benefit of the students, the union ought to reevaluate its approach.

The requests made by ASUU are legitimate. It is always done for the sake of our kids and is never self-serving. And many things will fall into place once the education system in this country is fixed.

“A properly and well-educated person will not go with a pistol.” Therefore, I advise and beg ASUU to reconsider their tactics, he stated.

Umahi added begged ASUU to accept the assistance provided by the Federal Government while they awaited a long-term answer to their demands.

Everyone has heard the shouts of ASUU, in my opinion, and I greatly praise them. But for the benefit of our kids, they ought to reconsider their approach at this point. so that interested parties and well-intentioned Nigerians could be invited to engage and communicate with them.

But at this point, they ought to be able to accept the FG’s offer and end the strike. Let’s use our leaders as mediators to help the Federal Government and ASUU come to an amicable agreement, he urged.

Additionally, he said that secondary education and vocational training ought to be made mandatory for all Nigerians.
